In early 2025, Samsung wanted to refresh the icons on their website. While initially after simple, more modern vector-style icons, they also were open to the idea of more colourful and illustrative icons.
With almost total creative control, I thought this was a perfect chance to jump on a quickly-emerging trend. 15 years on from when Skeumorphism dominated the design and tech industry, more and more tech companies are starting to re-integrate skeuomorphism into their brands in the form of emojis, icons and brand illustrations.
This project was an opportunity to present this style to Samsung and bring some personality and style to their homepage. While an emerging design trend, it still hasn’t taken off fully, and allows samsung to be considered formative in the resurgence of a stylish, expressive, and premium design language.
